Holiday Wrap Up

Photos by me, textures by Kim Klassen

Guess who got stuck in a blizzard that dumped more than a foot of snow on the East Coast last weekend? That'd be me.

Luckily, I didn't have to sit at the airport for days on end. I got a few extra days at home with the kiddos, which we spent trying to build a wonky snowman (no, I didn't get a photo and I'm kicking myself for it), going to see Tangled, and having pajama day after pajama day. But I am so glad to be home.

I swear I'm not a grinch, but the holidays aren't really my favorite part of the year. It's always so busy and stressful that I come out the other side wishing for a vacation from my vacation. This year was even worse, as my sister's house is being renovated, so there were workers in the house right at 8am (seriously, you could set an alarm by these guys - they were prompt) before and after the holidays. So, there wasn't a lot of baking or decorating or sleeping in, and I missed that; I did get to spend lots of one-on-one time with my sister, though, which was awesome, and I made my first wreath (I'll share photos soon). Other than that, if you've never lived or dealt with a renovation, I can sum up the process in three words: dusty and noisy.

I tried to come home a few days early to relax, but then a blizzard came along and there went my plans. Oh, and I threw out my back doing I don't know what at the very beginning of my trip, so the holidays this year were literally painful for me. 90% of the photos I took are blurry because it hurt to lift the camera (oh, well), but I did get these shots. What they don't show are the 50mph winds and pelting snow. But it sure looked nice from inside!

My plans for New Year's Eve is to flop on the couch and do absolutely nothing but watch TV and eat junk food. How about you? How was everyone's Christmas?

Even with its extensive run time, meticulous editing keeps us glued to our seats to see what he does next." RottenTomatoes.com says "It's been given 20% rotten - a one star rating.
